Associate: Association "Diplomatie et Stratégie", Paris
The Association "Diplomatie et Stratégie" (ADS) descends from the "Groupe d'études français d'histoire de l'armement nucléaire" (GREFHAN), the French branch of the Nuclear History Program (NHP) that functioned from 1986 to 1996. The ADS's mission is to promote and facilitate, in close coperation with universities and research institutions, the study of diplomacy, international relations and military and strategic questions. Established in 1999, the ADS is headed by Maurice Vaïsse, professor at the Institut d'études politiques in Paris, who is assisted by Pierre Mélandri (Université Paris-III) and Frédéric Bozo (Université de Nantes).
The ADS co-sponsors research, conferences and the publication of studies on the diplomatic, cultural and military aspects of the Cold War. ADS's publications include La France et l'OTAN (1996), La France et l'opération de Suez de 1956 (1997) and L'adaptation de l'armée française à la guerre d'Indochine (1999). ADS is linked with the Centre d'études d'histoire de la Défense and the historical institutes of the French Army, Navy and Air Force, located at the Château de Vincennes in Paris.
