Description: The 1985 USMLM Unit History is dedicated to Lieutenant Colonel Arthur D. "Nick" Nicholson, who was shot by a Soviet guard in Ludwigslust, East Germany, on 24 March 1985. Annex F describes the context of the situation in 1985, the shooting of Nicholson, the following reactions from the Soviet side and the negotiations between the United States Military Liaison Mission (USMLM) and the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany (GSFG).
