Stalin and His Legacy

Sep 2002
Description: This summary of oral history interviews with former Polish generals includes among other things statements by General Jan Drzewiecki. He comments on an exercise in May 1950, on the occasion of which the Maritime Front was established and an operational-strategic plan for the Polish armed forces was laid out. He also describes the atmosphere when the memorandum contesting Poland's military subordination to the Soviet Union was submitted to the Soviet Union. He further admits the existence of offensive operational plans against Denmark. General Tadeusz Tuczapski adds that no operational plan existed until the 1960s.
