Description: This document is the final version of the interim report by the Special Group on the Future Tasks of the Alliance. It outlines the four main areas of study for the Harmel exercise: (i) East-West relations, (ii) inter-allied relations, (iii) the general defensive policy of the alliance, and (iv) developments in regions outside the NATO area. Further, the report provides information on the four sub-groups created to study the above issues and specific topics pertaining to them.
