||
Description:
This report on the March 1985 meeting of the Warsaw pact (WP) deputy foreign ministers in Moscow reviews the Soviet and other WP members' positions on the forthcoming Soviet-US disarmament negotiations in Geneva. The Soviet deputy foreign minister reveals that Moscow will submit three proposals in Geneva: one related to the development of space-based weapons, another regarding strategic nuclear weapons, and a third regarding intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Europe. He emphasizes that the three topics are mutually interconnected, and that there can be no deal on the limitation of the nuclear arms race without outlawing the militarization of outer space. He also stated that scientific research related to space weapons can and must be monitored. Collection: Deputy Foreign Ministers
