After 1968

Jan 2005
Description: This summary of oral history interviews with former Czechoslovak generals provides information on first- and second-echelon planning, and on weapons of mass destruction. It became clear in the late 1960s that the effects of nuclear weapons had been underestimated, and the use of conventional weapons was re-considered; operational plans were re-worked, and the advance of Warsaw Pact troops was expected to take twice as long. The summary concludes with details on the Czechoslovak Intelligence Directorate and the achievements of the Czechoslovak military intelligence service.

Collection: Czechoslovak Generals
