This document of 1989 informs the East German leadership about aspects of the policy of US president George Bush Sr. towards the Soviet Union. It was prepared by the East German Stasi (Staatssicherheit) intelligence agency. The paper gives a broad account of US policy, including expectations from US foreign policy, the internal workings of the newly elected Bush administration, and US policy towards the Soviet Union.
