Rejoinders by Rolf Ekéus

On 15 July 2002, Mr. Ekéus responded to a draft of Mr. Wahlbäck's commentary by sending a first rejoinder. We are grateful to Mr. Lee Hamilton, director of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, and Mr. Christian Ostermann, director of the Center's Cold War International History Project, for forwarding the rejoinder to the PHP.
In May 2003, Mr. Ekéus expanded his comments on Mr. Wahlbäck's commentary by providing the PHP an extended version of his earlier reasoning.

ROLF EKEUS was head of Sweden's delegation to the UN Disarmament Conference in Geneva in 1983-89 and of the delegation to the Conference on Security and Cooperation (CSCE) in Vienna in 1989-1994. He was Executive Chairman of the United Nations Special Commission on Iraq (UNSCOM) in 1991-97 and served as Sweden's ambassador to Washington in 1997-2000. He was also a member of the Carnegie Endowment team of experts that in September 2002 presented the report Iraq - A New Approach: Coercive Inspections.
