Cold War at Sea
7-8 May 2004, Newport, Rhode Island
The international conference on the "Cold War at Sea" was held in Newport, Rhode Island, on 7-8 May 2004. Covering the whole Cold War era, the participants discussed how the Cold War was fought (and won) at sea. It brought together naval experts from Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. PHP Associate Svetlana Savranskaya (National Security Archive at George Washington University, Washington, DC) presented a paper on "Soviet Tactical Nuclear Weapons and the Cuban Missile Crisis".
The conference was organized by the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
