Contribution au Sous-Groupe No 4 sur les Tâches Futures de l'Alliance9 May 1967 |
||
Description:
This memorandum to the director of economic affairs states that in order to fulfill its mandate, Sub-Group 4 should not only analyze the political events that have occurred since the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty, but also cover social, economic, and technological developments. The brief of Sub-Group 4 also covers common problems in developing countries, including lack of economic development, population growth, and famine. The document concludes that NATO cannot be the main forum for dealing with problems of aid, trade, or monetary questions. The authors suggest that the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is more suitable for studies and consultations of a strictly economic nature.
