General Trends in the Development of the WP Forces from 1981-1985 (Presentation)

Description: This report by the supreme commander of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) United Armed Forces (UAF), Viktor Kulikov, addresses the development of the UAF from 1981-1985. The report was delivered at the 11th session of the WP's Committee of Defense Ministers (CDM) in East Berlin in 1978. In his report, Kulikov reviews the policy of the WP and discusses the development of the NATO forces. According to Kulikov, NATO is trying to establish military superiority over the WP; NATO's military preparations do not have a defensive character. Kulikov admits that the WP is lagging behind NATO with respect to military command systems.
