Memorandum by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Romanian Position on the East Pakistan Crisis2 Jul 1971 |
||
Description:
This memorandum, prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, describes recent developments in the ongoing crisis in South Asia and proposes Romanian reactions to the various petitions by involved parties. In principle, the Ministry advises an impartial position treating the ongoing strife in East Pakistan as an internal matter of Pakistan and refraining from intervention. As a humanitarian gesture, Romania should follow the example of other states and provide aid to the refuges from East Pakistan. Annexed to the documents are drafts of possible answer letters to Indira Gandhi and Yahya Khan. Collection: India-Soviet Bloc Relations
