||
Description:
This draft report by the rapporteurs of Sub-Group 1 analyzes East-West relations, détente, and a European settlement as well as the German Question. It concludes that the relaxation of tensions in Europe and the building of a regional security system mainly depend on NATO's success in persuading the Soviet bloc of the advantages of East-West collaboration. The report emphasizes that the German Question is closely linked to the European order. Finally, it points out the possibilities of bilateral and multilateral East-West contacts and cooperation in a period of détente. Collection: Harmel Report
