Warsaw Pact Intelligence on NATO's Strategy and Combat-Readiness

1965
Description: This 1965 Czechoslovak report examines the new US strategy of flexible response and assesses it as offensive in nature, aiming at the destruction of the Warsaw Pact (WP) countries. The authors also conclude that the new strategy indicates the failure of the concept of massive retaliation. They regard the new strategy as more aggressive, since massive retaliation implied a defensive reaction. They warn that the WP should be prepared for a new war caused by the NATO countries.
