State of the WP Integrated Air Defense System and Measures for Improvement (Summary)

Description: This summary presents the key points of a report on the state and development of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) unified air defense system. The chief of staff of the WP air defense forces, Ivan Tretiak, delivered this report during the 20th session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Bucharest 1986. The report addresses NATO's air warfare strategy and the development of the WP's air defense system. Special attention is given to the command system, deployment, and organization of the air defense forces.
