Description: This document lays out the East German view of the state and development of military research and development in the Warsaw Pact (WP). It was presented during the 19th session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Warsaw in 1986. The document proposes a number of measures, including accelerated research and introduction of new technology, more country-specific specialization, and the development of long-term programs.
