Communiqué

13 Oct 1983
Description: This is a communiqué issued at the 1983 meeting of the Warsaw Pact's Committee of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) in Sofia. It accuses the US of engaging in confrontational politics by extending its sphere of influence. The Warsaw Pact foreign ministers further agree that disarmament must be achieved under the condition of a balance of forces between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. They also call upon the Western European states not to allow the US to deploy more intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Europe.
