Peng Dehuai's Speech at the Warsaw Conference of European Countries on Safeguarding Peace and Security in Europe

12 May 1955
Description: This document is a transcript of a speech by Chinese Defense Minister Peng Dehuai at the Warsaw Conference of European Countries on Safeguarding Peace and Security in Europe on 12 May 1955. Dehuai argues that peace and security in Europe are inseparable from peace and security in Asia, and appeals for mutual defense and security cooperation among all Socialist countries. He criticizes the war plans and rearmament policy of the US and NATO, which he says are directed not only at Warsaw Pact countries, but also at obstructing national independence struggle in countries of the Far and Middle East and Africa.
