Draft Directive for Soviet Delegation to Conference of Asian and African Countries

17 Jun 1965
Description: This document presents the negotiation positions of the Soviet delegation to the second Asian-African conference to be held in November 1965 in Algiers, Algeria. It advises the Soviet delegation to stress issues related with decolonization and state independence, peace, support of the Vietnamese people and the struggle against US foreign policies. The paper also defines the Soviet positions regarding several related issues, including the "ten principles of Bandung", peace and disarmament, nuclear non-proliferation, the strengthening of the UN and peaceful conflict resolution e.g. in the Indo-Pakistani conflict and the Indo-Chinese border conflict. In the event that China participates at the conference, the paper suggests cooperating with its delegation.
