20 Oct 1983
Description: These are the minutes of the extraordinary session of the Warsaw Pact (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in East Berlin in 1983. This meeting addresses NATO's plans to deploy intermediate-range nuclear weapons to Western Europe. The report lists the decisions taken by the CMD. The CMD plans to enhance the capabilities of the United Armed Forces by 1985. This is to be achieved by modernizing the military equipment as well as by improving the command-and-control system. The report also lists objections brought up by Romanian Defense Minister Constantin Olteanu regarding the decisions of the CMD.
