||
Description:
This Moscow embassy report details the results of a visit to the Soviet Union by Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in July 1966. Indo-Soviet talks concentrate on the implementation of the Tashkent Declaration and the further expansion of trade between the two countries. The Soviet side favorably comments on Indian public announcements on the German question and on the Vietnam War. In order to diminish the rising influence of right-wing circles in India and to offset parallel U.S. efforts, additional Soviet economic aid, foremost for the heavy industry sector, is promised.
