Description:
This document is a letter by the secretary of the US delegation to the North Atlantic Council, Stephen T. Johnson. It contains the preliminary outline on the study that Sub-Group 3 is to conduct on the future tasks of the alliance. In determining short- and long-term defense policy tasks, Sub-Group 3 must prepare a historical review of NATO defense policy, analyze the political and economic trends in Western and Eastern Europe, and compare the relationship between NATO defense policies and the broader political objectives of the alliance.
