Subject: Briefing on the situation in Hungary and the political and organizational measures to be taken in Romania
26 Oct 1956
Description: This protocol of a meeting of the Central Committee (CC) of the Romanian Workers' Party addresses the situation in Hungary during the 1956 revolution. The CC decides to organize information campaigns all over Romania about the situation in Hungary. These campaigns are intended to express solidarity with the Hungarian working class. Questions related to the supply of the population with food and the financial rights of all salaried personnel are discussed. The activities of former leaders of Fascist organizations are also considered. Among the security measures to be taken are the strengthening of border defenses and censorship of press releases or radio broadcasts on the events taking place in Hungary.
