Speech by the General Secretary of the KSČ (Gustáv Husák)

14 May 1980
Description: In his speech at the 1980 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Warsaw, the general secretary of the KSČ, Gustáv Husák, evaluates the work of the Warsaw Pact in its 25 years of history, namely with regard to containing imperialism and strengthening international peace and security. He also comments on the international political situation, focusing on the development of Socialist-oriented countries. At the end of his speech, he urges the Madrid conference of the Helsinki Final Act signatories to agree on a global summit on military détente and disarmament in Europe.
