Report on the 12th Session of the CDM

Description: This is a report by the East German minister of defense, Heinz Hoffmann, to East German leader Erich Honecker. It informs Honecker about the 12th session of the Warsaw Pact Committee of Defense Ministers (CDM) in Warsaw in 1979. The CDM discussed ways of supporting a Soviet peace initiative, the establishment of basic principles for the WP's United Armed Forces, the establishment of an integrated early warning system for nuclear attacks, and the use of civil enterprises for military repairs in wartime. Hoffmann also met with Soviet Minister of Defense Dmitry Ustinov for discussion.
