Note on a Conversation Between Soviet Chairman of the Council of Ministers (Nikita Khrushchev) and an Indian Delegation

Description: This letter from the Indian Embassy in Moscow describes a meeting between Nikita Khrushchev, Soviet Chairman of the Council of Ministers, and a visiting Indian Delegation led by the Law Minister. Topics covered include the planning of the next Soviet Seven Year Plan, economic competition with the United States and recent domestic changes in Pakistan. Both sides stress the general positive state of affairs between the USSR and India. With respect to the coup in Pakistan, Khrushchev warns of potential social unrest in this country and a resulting escalation of the Kashmir issue.
