Description: These are the minutes of the 19th session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Warsaw in 1986. The document lists participants, questions discussed, and decisions taken. Among the top issues are the results of the US-Soviet disarmament summit in Reykjavik, integrated military research and development in the WP, the establishment of air assault and marine infantry forces in the WP, and the development of NATO's military infrastructure. The importance of the US-Soviet summit is fully acknowledged. Annexed is a communiqué that for the first time informs the public about the proceedings of the CMD meeting in greater detail.
