Fourth Interkit Meeting, Sofia, Bulgaria

15 Feb 1971
Description: This East German report, issued after the Interkit meeting in Sofia, addresses the situation in China under Mao Zedong. Among the issues discussed are the changes in Mao's foreign policy. China is said to encourage armed conflicts in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and is suspected of trying to win countries such as Romania and Albania to its side. This policy is regarded as damaging the unity of the Socialist bloc. Mao is accused of replacing China's economic relations with the Soviet Union with closer cooperation with other Socialist and capitalist countries. Therefore, the Socialist countries should improve their anti-Maoist propaganda.
