Speech by the General Secretary of the KSČ (Gustáv Husák)

Description: This is a transcript of a speech given by the general secretary of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ), Gustáv Husák, at the 1983 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Prague. He emphasizes that a united Socialist bloc would be able to achieve a balance of power, supports the initiative on the non-use of military forces, and registers his disagreement with the Romanian proposition of unilateral disarmament. He also stresses the need to abolish chemical weapons in Europe. At the end of his speech, he assesses Czechoslovakia's bilateral relations with West Germany and Austria and comments the situation in Poland.
