Speech by the Czechoslovak Foreign Minister (Bohuslav Chňoupek)

Description: This is the transcript of a speech given by the Czechoslovak foreign minister at the 1978 meeting of the Warsaw Pact's Committee of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) in Sofia. He gives an assessment of the achievements of the détente process. He also outlines the open issues to be discussed at the upcoming United Nations session on disarmament, e.g., banning weapons of mass destruction and convening a world conference on disarmament. He then points to the need for deeper cooperation between the Warsaw Pact states.
