Report on the Consultation of the Deputy Foreign Ministers Having Recognized the People's Republic of Cambodia

28 Dec 1981
Description: This report on the December 1981 meeting of the Warsaw Pact (WP) deputy foreign ministers with their counterparts in the Laotian capital of Vientiane addresses the dangers implied by improvements in the relations between China and the US. US efforts to "infiltrate the Asian continent" by putting political pressure on the leaders of ASEAN in order to restore US military presence and transform ASEAN into a military alliance are strongly criticized. In view of this development, the WP deputy foreign ministers stress the need for unity and cooperation between the European and Asian Socialist countries.
