Use of Helicopters in Combat (Summary)

8 Nov 1975
Description: This document summarizes the main points of a report on the use of helicopters in combat, delivered at the eighth session of the Warsaw Pact's Committee of Defense Ministers in Prague in 1975. The paper describes the various applications of rotary-wing aircraft for combat, transport, surveillance and control, search and rescue, and evacuation of casualties. The analysis is based on the experiences of the US armed forces in Vietnam and on the role of Israeli attack helicopters in conflict with Egypt on the Sinai peninsula. The author expects an increased use of helicopters in the future.
