Description: In his speech at the 1976 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Bucharest, the first secretary of the MSzMP, János Kádár, emphasizes the importance of the Helsinki Conference for the détente process in Europe. Additionally, he ensures Hungarian support for the draft treaty rejecting the first use of nuclear weapons, the Soviet proposals for disarmament, and a European Congress on energy, transport, and the environment. He ends by pointing to the Hungarian contribution to the détente process in form of the development of bilateral relations between Hungary and Western European countries.
