Speech by Hungarian Deputy Foreign Minister István Roska

1 Mar 1985
Description: This document is a transcript of a speech by Hungarian Deputy Foreign Minister István Roska at the March 1985 meeting of the Warsaw Pact's deputy foreign ministers in Moscow. Roska states that Hungary welcomes the Soviet-US talks in Geneva and that it wishes to play an active role in supporting and promoting the Soviet positions during the negotiations. He condemns US attempts to write off the negotiations from the start - attempts that he argues are intended to conceal Washington's real intentions, namely, to save its armament program, including its plans for a space-based weapons program.
