Stenographic Transcript of the Meeting of the Consultative Political Committee of the Central Committee of the Romanian Communist Party

17 Dec 1981
Description: In this stenographic transcript, the general secretary of the Romanian Communist Party (RCP), Nicolae Ceauşescu, refers to the Polish request for aid in light of the national economic crisis. His wife, Elena Ceauşescu, the vice prime minister of Romania, argues that Romania should not help Poland, as Poland has more raw materials than Romania. Ceauşescu responds that aid must be provided, but that Poland must repay Romania in raw materials, such as coal and coke. Ceauşescu further blames the Soviet Union for Poland's economic crisis.
