East German Evaluation of Polish Proposal for a Treaty on Principles of European Security and Cooperation

22 Dec 1969
Description: This is an East German evaluation of a Polish proposal on a treaty that would specify the basic principles of European security. According to the East German view, the Polish proposal lacks important elements, such as the obligation of signing and ratifying a pan-European nuclear non-proliferation treaty. The evaluation stresses that the principles of any future European conference must be binding on all parties, including the US and NATO. The East German analysis concludes that the Polish proposal is not suitable for presentation at the first European security conference.
