These Hungarian minutes contain transcripts of speeches given at the Warsaw Pact's Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting of 14 April 1974 by the following party leaders: Edward Gierek (Poland), Leonid Brezhnev (Soviet Union), Erich Honecker (East Germany), Gustáv Husák (Czechoslovakia), Nicolae Ceauşescu (Romania), Todor Zhivkov (Bulgaria), and János Kádár (Hungary). The speeches address issues such as European security, East-West relations, and relations between East and West Germany. The speeches also discuss the Geneva disarmament conference meetings, US President Richard Nixon's role in the peace process, and the situation in the Middle East. Attached are a summary report to the Politburo of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party and a report by the supreme commander of the Warsaw Pact's United Armed Forces. Among the issues addressed by the latter are: security cooperation among Warsaw Pact countries, NATO's military capabilities, and improvements in military technology and production.
