Main Developments and State of NATO Forces in the West (Presentation)

10 Dec 1976
Description: This is report on the state and development of NATO's armed forces, presented by the head of intelligence of the East German armed forces, T. Gregori, at the ninth session of the Warsaw Pact (WP) Committee of Defense Ministers (CDM) in Sofia in 1976. Gregori reviews the arms race, the increased military activity and potential of NATO, and the modernization of its equipment in the areas of weapons, reconnaissance, and command-and-control. He concludes that NATO is trying to change the balance of power in Europe in its favor and would be able to attack the WP at very short notice.
