Description:
This is a transcript of an interview with Czechoslovak General Anton Slimák (b. 1941), chief of the General Staff of the Czechoslovak Army (1989-1991). General Slimák claims that the Czechoslovak Operations Plan 1964 was based on former operational plans because the focus on the early use of nuclear weapons was abandoned in the succeeding plans. According to him, the planning for offensive operations became more realistic when the plans were reworked in 1985 and 1986. He further outlines the changes in military and operational planning after 1989.
