Letter from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China15 Sep 1961 |
||
Description:
This letter from the CC of the CPSU to their Chinese counterparts addresses the issue of the People's Republic of China's potential membership in the United Nations. In the letter, the Soviet side attempts to persuade Beijing of the benefits of China's inclusion in a UN disarmament committee consisting of the USSR, the US, six allies of both alliances, and additional neutral countries. Such membership, the Soviet side argues, would not only give China international recognition, but would weaken the position of its enemies and strengthen the solidarity among the Socialist countries.
