Description: This is a report on the 1988 meeting of the Warsaw Pact's Committee of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) in Sofia. It discusses US-Soviet disarmament negotiations and further steps for disarmament to be undertaken by the Warsaw Pact member states. The participating foreign ministers express their will to negotiate reductions of troops and conventional weapons for both NATO and the Warsaw Pact, and are determined to continue with regional disarmament initiatives. They also approve mechanisms to streamline collaboration and coordination between Warsaw Pact members.
