Description:
This Soviet Communist Party paper deals with India-Pakistan relations following armed clashes in Kashmir. At the time of writing, neither side have withdrawn their troops, as demanded in a Security Council resolution, but are willing to negotiate a peaceful solution to the conflict. India’s and Pakistan’s positions in the Kashmir question are discussed. The Soviet Union offers its services to organize a meeting between the Indian prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and the Pakistani president Ayub Khan in Tashkent.
