Description:
This is a report from East German Minister of Defense Heinz Hoffmann to East German head of state Erich Honecker. It reviews discussions at the 16th session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Sofia in 1983. Questions discussed include: i) the development of the United Armed Forces in the years 1986-1990, ii) the modernization of military equipment of the WP armies, and iii) countermeasures against Western propaganda.
