Description: In this report, General Petr Ivashutin, head of the Soviet military intelligence, offers his views on NATO's long-term armament program. Ivashutin's report was delivered during the 17th session of the Warsaw Pact Committee of Ministers of Defense in Budapest 1984. He assesses NATO's level of combat-readiness in the Western and Southwestern European theaters of war as high.
