Description:
This stenographic record of the Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Berlin 1970 includes the speeches of the first secretary of the Polish Worker's Party, Władyslaw Gomułka; East German head of state Walter Ulbricht; and General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party Nicolae Ceauşescu. All express satisfaction with the Treaty of Moscow, the Treaty of Warsaw (which had been initialled), and the West German recognition of Poland's western border. They further suggest a full integration of both German states into the UN system in order to strengthen the position of East Germany and support the idea of a pan-European security conference.
