Summary of Speech by the Warsaw Pact Deputy Supreme Commander (Ivan Yakubovsky)

Description: In his speech at the 1972 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Prague, Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Armed Forces (UAF) Ivan Yakubovsky reports that the military organs intended to strengthen the Unified Command (i.e., the committee of defense ministers, the military council, and the committee on technology) have been created and are fully operational. He also reports on the status of ground and naval forces, and calls the participants' attention to the need to upgrade equipment and conduct more training and simulation exercises.
