Speech by the First Secretary of the CC of the CPSU (Nikita S. Khrushchev)

Description: This is a transcript speech given by Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev at the 1961 Political Consultative Committee (PPC) meeting in Moscow. He analyzes the policy of the western alliance, but offers a normalization of bilateral bloc relations including disarmament. He further comments on the political situation in East Asia and Africa, and examines the possibilities of spreading Socialism. Additionally, he severely criticizes Albania and suggests the withdrawal of Soviet forces from the naval base in Vlorë. In the end, he speaks of the need to increase Warsaw Pact defense capacities.
