Description:
This is a report on the visit of the Indian Vice President Ramaswami Venkataraman to the GDR in November 1985. During the talks both sides once again confirm the close character of their bilateral relationship.
The topics covered are Indian and East German efforts to contribute to global detente between the blocs, nuclear arms control measures and the further development of the bilateral relationship. Venkataraman describes recent domestic events in India and gives an overview of economic policies.With respect to foreign policy, he confirms the continuing non-aligned stance and Indian determination to be respected as a great power.
