Description: This report of the Italian military intelligence service (Servizio di Informazioni delle Forze Armate, SIFAR) reveals the existence of a secret army codenamed Gladio, run by SIFAR itself. The document lists the tasks of Gladio within the structures of NATO in case of war as well as on national level in case of domestic threats. The operations of Gladio are planned in collaboration with the US and with other stay-behind armies. Furthermore, the report outlines the structure and organization of Gladio and the operations it is prepared for.
