Statement on Consolidation and Development of an Integrated Air Defense System

5 Feb 1974
Description: This is the summary of a report on the fulfillment of the decision to create an integrated air defense system for the Warsaw Pact (WP), as demanded by the WP Committee of Defense Ministers (CDM) in May 1970. The commander of the WP's Air Defense Forces, Marshal Pavel Batitskii, prepared the report for the sixth session of the CDM in Bucharest in 1974. Batitsky summarizes the work done so far, discusses the state and development of the space assets and air power of the US and NATO, and outlines possible future developments. He concludes that the WP's air defense has been improved, but certain deficiencies remain.
